MIKIE DA POET VS EMINEM – RIVALRY OR FOLK TALE
Was Eminem talking about Chicago rapper Mikie Da Poet when he said “you said you was king, you lied through your teeth, so for that fuck your feelings instead of getting crowned your getting capped” on the song “I’m Not Afraid”?
During Mikie Da Poet’s performance on Fox News that was recently posted on Youtube, they reported that Mikie is “the new Eminem” according to music fans and critics everywhere. To follow that, the song “The Showdown” which was the single off of the mentioned album, featured a song in which Mikie says “Crown me King”. He had released three albums prior to this, dating back to 1997.
These two white rappers have history through the major players in the labels, and I want to know if Mikie’s old screaming and passionate style has inspired Eminem, or did the comment about Mikie being the “New Eminem” mean anything to him?
I think that these two are the greatest rappers of all-time, and the hip hop world needs to know the story between you guys, because it’s been brewing for a while.
To conclude, I only ask this question because when the highly anticipated “Monsters of the Midway” double CD album was released, most known for the song “Midwest Invasion” with Twista and Layzie Bone, Mikie was on the second CD, track 13: “Life In the Cold”. This CD almost vanished and then that song somehow ended up on Layzie Bone’s next album, but was originally on this Monsters of the Midway album. The CD also featured all the major midwest rappers including Twista, Danny Boy from Tupac’s “I Ain’t Mad At Ya”, Da Smart, M.C. Breed, Nahlon, Yung Buk, Murda 1, Krash Man, Johnny P, Do Or Die, Turtle Banxx, Black Pirate, PsychoDrama, Militia, G-ZUS, Jah Rista, Crucial Conflict, Malik Yusef, and the Dayton Family… just to name a few.
I believe the rivalry started when Mikie was chosen over Eminem to be featured on this highly touted CD. This album was finalized in 1999, and released in 2000.
So my question is – is this rivalry or folktale?
